Aerosol Collectors

SpecTree has developed a micro-well impactor for collection of chemical particulates and a Micro-channel collector for bioaerosols.

Bio-Aerosol Collector

The Micro Channel Collector (µCC) is based on a centrifugal impaction concept. Its primary function is to elute/extract the analyte and deliver it for analysis using a sample volume of approximately 100 µL. The device is designed to effectively sample and analyze aerosols containing particles in the 0.5–10 μm range. The integrated system includes two main components: (i) the µCC and (ii) a microfluidic elution system for delivering the sample to a sensor.

Micro-Well Aerosol Collector

The µ-well aerosol collector utilizes an aerodynamic focusing (AF) inlet to project the particle into a small collection well (~1.5 mm). Particles stay in the well because their bounce is redirected toward the center of the well, increasing the sample collection density. The geometry can be scaled up to increase the flow rate and the collection volume. The main benefit is the ability to operate the impactor for an extended period.
